A good day

Today was a wonderful day.

My son had a Dr. appt mid-day so we took advantage of this to elongate his time away from school and my time away from work to enjoy some of the Brand New President festivities. We listened to Obama's speech on the drive to a friend's home where lunch and a toast (Fresca for him - he's 8) was waiting. We watched a few hours of CBS coverage of all the day's interviews and activities before heading out to an additional medical appointment. There wasn't any crisis to our health related day thankfully (this boy is fast and distracted and his nose met a door frame and full speed last Thursday--today was follow-up and later some x-rays). We were able to take in and talk about the ceremony, festivities, interviews, personal stories and the inspiration of the whole darn experience.

He's an Obama fan. So am I. Amazingly enough he was stricken with a severe case of citizenship on election day and helped canvas in a swing state with his mom and dad working together. There are many days of public school to be had. These are the days of history. The broken nose aside, I'm glad our day today was spent focused around Obama and his new journey in the White House. Our whole blended and extended family is inspired by this man and our hopes stretch forward along with his.

We ended tonight with pizza and a youtube viewing of today's speech. We all were a little teary.

Today was a wonderful day.
